Our mission is to bridge the gap between the amount of money actually provided by the State of California and the amount necessary to provide a first-class, high quality education to our students at Poway High School. A volunteer board of dedicated parents and educators governs the Foundation as a non-profit organization, organizes fundraising activities and votes on program and equipment expenditures. Over the years we have donated back to Poway High School several hundred thousand dollars.
Make a difference. Make a donation.
BRIDGE THE GAP!
Dear Parents,
As you know, cuts to the education budget impact every California public school. The 2010-11 school year will be an even more challenging year financially. As Superintendent Don Phillips discussed in his letter to the district last month, PUSD is looking at a potentially devastating $24 million shortfall for the upcoming school year.
Needless to say, there will be dramatic cuts in the programs at Poway High School due to the budget deficit. The bottom line is this: WE NEED YOUR HELP! The Friends of Poway High Foundation is in desperate need of donations to BRIDGE THE GAP to ensure that the quality education we expect for our students will be able to continue next school year.
As parents, we want more for our children than a basic education. The Friends of Poway High Foundation, together with Principal Scott Fisher, are dedicated to continuing the support of the many vital programs listed on the enclosed sheet. The economic downturn and budget cuts continue to threaten these valuable programs. Your donations not only secure these programs, but also send an important message to our students – That giving back strengthens our entire school community. These important programs at Poway High continue to distinguish our campus from other high schools. Please join us today by making a tax-deductible donation that will BRIDGE THE GAP and continue the support of every student.
Sincerely,
David Rauterkus, Chairperson & Scott Fisher, Principal, PHS
