Foundation Mini-Grants: Teachers have needs specific to their curriculum and subject matter, which include books, supplies, technology, or hands-on activities specific to their field. Mini-Grants would allow some of those needs to be met.

Titan Credit Recovery Program: Students who fail classes often times need interventions and support beyond what a regular class can offer. Through the use of PLATO software, students are able to retake classes and learn what is needed to meet the standards of the course and earn credits toward graduation.

Student Support Services: Our Student Services office offers a wide range of services that help students be successful at school including support groups, peer counseling, drug and alcohol support, homeless interventions, as well as teen violence, crisis, and social/emotional counseling.

Titan College and Career Center: The Titan Center Assistant offers services/support for students who need help with scholarships, financial aid, four year and community college applications. The Titan Center is also used as a resource room for students to find information regarding careers, career pathways, and trade school options.

Instructional Supplies Support: Over the past two years, instructional supplies budgets have been reduced as a way to keep teaching positions in place. Teachers rely on these budgets for needed supplies such as pens/pencils, dry erase markers, and paper.

AVID College Visits: Part of the AVID mission is to have students experience visiting a college and getting to see what it feels like to walk across a university campus. Every year students are taken to major colleges within San Diego County and around California.

Technology Support-Replacement Plan: Over the years, The Friends of Poway High Foundation have provided technology support in the form of LCD projectors, printers, computers, and document cameras. To maintain this technology, the Foundation is looking for donations to help support the maintenance and continued use of these important resources.

Library Proquest Databases: In an effort to prepare students for the rigor of college, the Library has used Proquest as a data base for research. Students have access to thousands of journals, college databases, and materials that will help them learn how to conduct college level research.

Naviance: One of the best ways to communicate with colleges and find out information is through Naviance. This online resource allows students to look up information regarding careers and colleges, apply through the common application process, and discover scholarship opportunities.

Active Votes: Activote is an integrated personal response system designed to encourage student participation and enhance learning. Activote allows student responses to be displayed, analyzed individually or as a class, or exported to Excel for record keeping and further analysis.

“Destinos”: Destinos is a 52-episode video, all in Spanish, designed to help students acquire the language. Students watch and listen to the episodes and have conversations, discussions and writing prompts based on what they hear and see.

Poway High Photography Program: At Poway High, all digital photographs are done using Adobe Photoshop on individual Mac computers. With class sizes increasing the need for Macbooks is greater than ever. The new iMacs are priced at $1,200 apiece.

Microsoft Office Professional for 3D Animation and Architectural Design: Office 2007 is used as a learning support tool to better learn the History of Architecture. 3D Animation students also use the software for employment preparation by writing resumes, cover letters, and research papers. The program needs 32 copies.

Physics Notebook Lab: Many of the labs and experiments students perform for Physics are now done on computers. eMachines has released a Netbook that allows for students to interact with software that helps them understand many of the concepts emphasized in the Physics courses. At $250, students would have access to a laptop to conduct research, experiments or complete labs right in class.

Biology Field Trip: Every year Biology students are presented the opportunity to go observe the diverse ecosystems found at our local coastal areas. Students interact with specimens, conduct observations, identify organism, and generally have a great time exploring the coastal area.
